So maybe you’ve heard the tea from one of your favourite YouTube’s or favourite Beauty guru’s about Morphe cosmetics latest release of 60 foundation shades and concealers. That’s right 60 SHADES Baby!

Makeup lovers are literally excited for this release but after doing my own research and watching countless videos on honest reviews on this release, maybe this probably wasn’t the best move or maybe it was. The statistics will show when the foundations are actually released to the public. It seems like it’s an answered prayer for those that have been left behind by cosmetics brands because there’s something for everyone right? But when does too much become too much and when do we draw the line.
I watched a video by the amazing Jackie Aina ( Watch video here: Morphe Review) where she reviews the foundation shades and compares them side by side. Most of the shades were similar in colour, or they had very similar undertones. If you know makeup well you would know that not one shade fits all when it comes to foundation, undertones have to be considered!
It’s understandable that the cosmetics industry is trying to be inclusive after Fenty Beauty changed the game. But its very important to keep in mind that quality over quantity will always win the race. So the launch according to the influencers that received their packages containing all 60 shades said the thought behind it was necessary which I do agree with. Because the more shades the more of a chance we can find the colour that matches us…right?

Well, I am sorry to disappoint you; unfortunately, you either might have to mix some foundation shades together to get your match OR you could be lucky. It’s a hit and miss really….
Which brings me to my point in order for the cosmetics industry to move past the issue of not being inclusive. It’s important to do the groundwork first before launching. It is vital to consider what the people ACTUALLY need. With this launch, I feel like the needs of the customers weren’t taken in to count. Makeup brands such as Morphe heard the cry that we want inclusiveness within the industry, but what wasn’t taken to count was that consumers seek brands that are inclusive but also that inclusion means quality. Sixty shades of the same undertones repeated on multiple shades doesn’t mean inclusion when cosmetic lovers can’t find their belonging in the 60 shades.
I completely understand this is a new trend and it’s awesome that Fenty Beauty was the trailblazer in being the first brand to release 50 shades of foundation in 2018. But at this point I just feel like brands are just doing the most without actually doing the most if you know what I mean. It’s important to get to know the customer it’s important to know what matters and unfortunately for this release the research wasn’t done, perhaps it was just to secure the bag without really fixing the issue.

Morphe is hand’s down the best company to get your make-up brushes, beauty sponges and eyeshadow palettes. But was foundation and concealers the best move? I don’t know time will tell honestly…
So what is my verdict you might ask … Honestly maybe I might drop a few racks on this release to give it a go. But with the way that some of these reviews are set up, they have me wanting to put my money elsewhere. I commend Morphe on the thought 100% we need more shades! It’s Just that we need more quality shades more than anything.
Anywho … What do you think should, I purchase the Morphe foundation and give you my honest opinion?
Comment down in the comment section and let me know! Also, let me know your thoughts if you’ve heard about the new release.
